Surfer Blood

The Floridian band, Surfer Blood is probably one of my favorite bands at the moment. I would begin to describe them as a cross between surf and alternative. The Vox bring it all home for me with a sort of We Are Scientists vibe that is blended with echo and reverb. They are set to release their debut album, Astro Coast in January. Jump on the band wagon early, because no one likes to look like a fool. Give it a listen, it’s worth your time.

Surfer Blood – Floating Vibes

Surfer Blood – Harmonix

Surfer Blood – Swim (to reach the end)

Nurses

Trouble finding a place to fit in, the Nurses have finally hit their mark in Portland, Oregon. The new release Apple Acres is a very interesting take of a type of electronic alternative genre. The only way to describe it is just new and weird. These guys were outcasted from just about every city that they visited and their music reflects just that. The vocals really seal the deal with Nurses as the falsetto contrasts with the tenor sooo well. Give it a listen and be ahead of the curve.

Nurses – Technicolor

Nurses – Caterpillar Playground

Nurses – Lita

Rx Bandits

The Rx Bandits have dropped their 6th album titled Mandala just yesterday and it has still progressed from their last record. Rx Bandits are perfectly described as Progressive Rock. This pin points their style perfectly as not only the albums they create progress, so do the songs as you listen to them. You can tell that time has gone into each and every production of this record to the synth climbs to spacey guitar solos. They did a great job, but don’t take my word for it just listen.

Arctic Monkeys – Crying Lightning

A little slow on the post but never the less made it. The Arctic Monkeys debuted their first single off of the highly anticipated album Humbug last night on BBC radio. The song is a lot darker than the Arctic Monkeys previous sound however, I have a feeling the whole new album will have the vibe. Alex Turner does a great job with the vocals and doesn’t stray too far from that Arctic Monkeys sound we all know and love. For your listening pleasure I present to you Crying Lightning.
