My Satellite

My Satellite is a indie electronic solo project based out of Los Angeles consisting of multi-instrumentalist, Bryan Stage. His music often covers a vast array of emotions ranging from deepened sadness to triumphant states of success. Within the last year My Satellite has released a 4 song EP titled Telescopes That truly embodies that which is listed above. Each song is a differing experience filled with airy reverbed vocals and many different instruments creating a layered wall of sound that is unlike any upcoming artist that I have heard. There is an effortless sense of mortality within the lyrics, all too real to truly describe within text without losing their meaning all together. One must just listen to the emotion within the music to truly appreciate it. Each of the 4 songs on Telescopes are very different and yet seem to flow with one another throughout the 18 minute experience.

My Satellite plans to release 2 more EP’s within the following year and a half to complete the series and soon after to release an album encompassing all elements of the said EP’s into one cohesive piece of art. For now keep your eyes and ears pealed for the release of the upcoming EP’s and also buy the previously released EP, Telescopes on iTunes or Amazon!

If you’re not one to buy EP’s or music in general please visit My Satellite’s Webpage, Myspace, or Last FM pages for current tracks. Also stay posted on My Satellite’s updates on his Twitter!

As for now, here is a taste of what My Satellite’s Telescopes has to offer with two of his tracks from the EP. Remember to check out his webpages and keep your ear to the streets. This guy is going places. enjoY!

Vokab Kompany

Coming to you straight from San Diego, this 7 piece live band fuses Hip Hop, Soul, Indie, and Electro into one. They have been lurking in the underground of San Diego for some time but they are on the come up with their new full length album titled The New Kong. You can download the album for $7 on their website and to be completely honest, this is the best $7 dollars I have spent in a while. Just the fact that these guys play with a live band every time they hit the stage is completely impressive. Their groves are gutta and deserve the best reviews possible. Please check them out, you will not regret it. EnjoY!

Vokab Kompany – That Day

Phantogram

Hailing from Australia, this band is definitely something worth listening to. I have heard them classified anywhere from Trip-Hop to Postmodern Rock. Frankly, this duo is fresh. They have a new take on music and I love it. They seem to mix Electronica seamlessly with the new “Indie Rock” that is coming up. The delicate voice mixed with interesting electronic licks are exactly what keeps you coming back for more. Their new album Eyelid Movies is poised to drop sometime within the remaining year, but between you and I, I have heard it and it is amazing. Do some searching and you can find it. Peep it. EnjoY!

Phantogram – Mouth Full of Diamonds

Phantogram – When I’m Small

The Temper Trap

The Temper Trap has to be one of my new favorite bands. They are able to blend rock and alternative with subtle synth lines and arpeggios. These guys are hailing from Australia and have a record dropping on the 10th of August titled Conditions.

The Temper Trap – Sweet Disposition

The Temper Trap – Fader

The Antlers

So lately I have been on sort of an Indie – Ambient kick looking for anything that is weird and sounds good. While exploring I came across The Antlers and their album Hospice. This record is very very interesting in that the whole thing is a story between two individuals – one being terminally ill with cancer and the other trying to take care of them. The songs are extremely powerful and embody so much emotion it is almost hard to listen to. The Antlers manage to take every song and turn it into a 1st person view of what exactly it means to be in turmoil and work to get over it. Please give this a listen, it is well worth your time.

The Antlers – Kettering

The Antlers – Sylvia

The Constellations

The Atlanta based band is on the rise with a experimental feel and an interesting vibe. They have been working with producer Ben H. Allen who has produced with bands Gnarles Barkely and Animal Collective. Their style is very original but pulls from numerous genres to create a musical orgy that is like no other. The band has also has featured vocalist Cee Lo from Gnarles Barkely and a member of the Hip-Hop Freshman Class, Asher Roth on a few tracks from their debut album entitled Southern Gothic.

We Were Promised Jetpacks

Well look who is coming out of Glasgow, Scotland. We Were Promised Jetpacks just dropped their first album entitled These Four Walls June 15th and are on the come up. These guys can can be considered EPIC. They have a sound that can be compared to Interpol and The National. Feeling a little wild? Give it a listen.
