Summer Time

clairecali.blogspot.com

Nothing can really compare to some great Summer cuts. Today is strictly dedicated to all those jams that you bump with the windows down going 85 on the freeway. enjoY

The Hood Internet – Ignition (R. Kelly vs. Major Lazer)

Ou Est Le Swimming Pool – Dance The Way I Feel

The Smiles – Cala Cola

Foster The People – Pumped Up Kicks

Neon Hitch

Neon Hitch is a new sexy pop sensation that is going to be sweeping the dance clubs and radio stations very soon. She is currently working on her full debut album titled Beg, Borrow & Steal in the states and I personally can’t wait for it to drop. I am calling it right now that she is going to have at least 2 club bangers on the LP that get massive radio play. She already has quite a few great covers with Mike Posner, Travie McCoy and Miike Snow. Here are a few tracks to give you a taste of her upcoming record.

Neon Hitch – Cooler Than Me (Sia vs Mike Posner)

Neon Hitch – Black and Blues

Surfer Blood

The Floridian band, Surfer Blood is probably one of my favorite bands at the moment. I would begin to describe them as a cross between surf and alternative. The Vox bring it all home for me with a sort of We Are Scientists vibe that is blended with echo and reverb. They are set to release their debut album, Astro Coast in January. Jump on the band wagon early, because no one likes to look like a fool. Give it a listen, it’s worth your time.

Surfer Blood – Floating Vibes

Surfer Blood – Harmonix

Surfer Blood – Swim (to reach the end)

Miike Snow

No, it’s no typo just the name of a great synth-pop band who is continuing to do their thing on the music scene. The song Silvia is a great joint with everything that a successful pop song needs: A great chorus, great effects, a message, and last but not least emotion. These guy are really great and you should give them a listen.

Miike Snow – Silvia

Miike Snow – Animal

Florence + The Machine

Musically, this is one of the most eclectic records I have ever listened to within Florence and The Machine’s debut album entitled  ”Lungs.” Florence Welch has one of the most beautiful voices I have heard in a long time and needs credit, as does her band – The Machine, which is comprised of varying musicians depending on what track is being played. For some reason this album just captures everything one has ever wanted to say to someone they care about. To be completely honest I have listened to the track “Cosmic Love” 213 times according to good ol’ iTunes. The music, the lyrics, they all have a message and it is always up for self-interpretation. Please listen to Lungs and just sit back and get lost because it is well worth the it.

Florence + The Machine – Cosmic Love

Florence + The Machine – Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)

Auto-Tune

Alright, I am about to vent for a minute. I am tired of everyone with a microphone hating on Auto-Tune. Auto-Tune was devised to make people sound better than they really do by correcting the pitch of the human voice to hit the desired note, and it does exactly that. It’s no secret as some individuals have made their whole career off of it like T-Pain. Now we have a huge following with Auto-Tune with promoters such as Kanye West, Bon Iver, T-Pain, Wyclef Jean, Lil’ Wayne, Mr Hudson, etc. Then there are the haters such as Jay-Z, Lupe Fiasco, Wyclef Jean and various artists who are mad at the fact that the Auto-Tune users are making more money than they used to without Auto-Tune.

It is up for speculation why people dig the sound of Auto-Tune but there is one thing for sure – music is a movement and is always in motion. Right now the sound that is well respected BY THE LISTENERS is Auto-Tune with that vocoded talk-b0x sound. I have been saying that this hip-hop movement  is going futuristic and Auto-Tune provides that sound, period. All you haters just get over it- you can use it too if you want to make money like Wyclef did and talks about. Obviously he is on the fence about the idea but he liked it enough to produce a joint about it and state that you ‘have to have skill before you turn on the tune’ so he is obviously saying that he is good enough to do it, right? Anyways, I know there are a lot of people that would like to agree or disagree with me and I want to hear it all. Bottom line, Auto-Tune is music and helps create music so why can’t we just respect it?

Wyclef Jean – Mr. Auto-Tune

Jay-Z – D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune)

Bon Iver – Woods

Arctic Monkeys – Crying Lightning

A little slow on the post but never the less made it. The Arctic Monkeys debuted their first single off of the highly anticipated album Humbug last night on BBC radio. The song is a lot darker than the Arctic Monkeys previous sound however, I have a feeling the whole new album will have the vibe. Alex Turner does a great job with the vocals and doesn’t stray too far from that Arctic Monkeys sound we all know and love. For your listening pleasure I present to you Crying Lightning.

UOLegend89

I present to you the newest up and comer on the blogosphere, UOLegend89 – YouTube legend. HA, okay well I figure he just needed some promoting. He states he couldn’t find an instrumental version of Chris Brown’s – Heart Ain’t A Brain so overdubbing the vocals is how he would like to showcase his talent. Poor decision. You can download this program called Audacity to take vocals out of any single stereo mp3, which is what a lot of remix DJ’s use, and in turn can create any instrumental version of any song, ever. I have taken the liberty to find a song instrumental that he might be able to handle to perhaps encourage a newer version that truly can showcase this amazing talent… Try using Auto-Tune, it makes everyone sound good – isn’t that right T-Pain?

If you could not tell – this post was a joke. Keep posted for actual new music.

We Were Promised Jetpacks

Well look who is coming out of Glasgow, Scotland. We Were Promised Jetpacks just dropped their first album entitled These Four Walls June 15th and are on the come up. These guys can can be considered EPIC. They have a sound that can be compared to Interpol and The National. Feeling a little wild? Give it a listen.

Noose

A long lost track from RATATAT for your listening pleasure. This track never made it to an album debut but non the less it is a sick joint. The quality is amazing for being a live performance. Check it.
